Yet again, these 6 weeks have been filled with new experiences and new milestones. From walking (and then climbing) to new words (kaka, is cracker; ni-ni, is bedtime) to first birthdays (and sugar rushes), Maggie keeps us on our toes. John's schedule has finally slowed down, now that baseball is over, which is wonderful because we get to see him in the evening. Maggie loves having Daddy around to play with her. As of right now, John is wrapping up his last few days of the school year, and I am [thinking about] packing for the long haul to SC. At the moment, we still aren't sure if we'll be living in Pageland, SC or Monroe, NC, and it looks like we won't know for sure until right before we leave, and we won't know our address until we get there. I'll post it as soon as I know.
Maggie has been taking a lot of showers lately. After a knife accident (me, not Maggie) and a quick trip to the ER, I was unable to give her baths, so she was forced to sit in the shower with me (or stay dirty). As you can see, she enjoys them and tries to climb into the shower whenever there is someone in there. (She also knocks on the door if the bathroom door is closed and she knows someone is in there.)
Here, she climbed up the stool to the stove. (Don't worry the burners are off.)
Again, this is before she was sort of walking, mostly crawling, but she didn't like the feel of crawling on the grass.
Maggie lounging in front of the TV and waiting for the chaos that was about to happen.
We had a great group for Maggie's birthday party, on the 27th. Tons of family (well, more than I ever expected) crammed into our apartment to hang out on Saturday.
The party, after some shifting, was on Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately, John's Saturday baseball game was cancelled and rescheduled for Sunday, so he missed the party. We did, however, move the party to Plum Creek Park, where CUNE plays their games, so there was entertainment for the guests. About a week or so before the party, Maggie took to walking. She is still wobbly at times, but does not crawl at all anymore.
The party turned out to be a little long, and Maggie had a melt down half way through opening gifts...
...but cupcakes cure everything.
After the party, a few people came back to play with all the new toys. Here Maggie shows off her new bike, which she can only push backwards.
After the insanity of the party, we are back to normal. Note the rug burn on Maggie's forward in the next few pictures. She's not very good at getting off of her new chair, yet.
Maggie loves to pick flowers, especially dandelions. She is not eating it, but smelling it.
She gets practice climbing at the park: up the stairs, across the bridge, and down the slide all by herself. (I help a little just to turn her the right way down the slide, or she would go down head first.)

And then back around to go again.
This drawer holds her crayons, among other things she throws in there.

Maggie is using a spoon, and occassionally fork, on her own. It doesn't always end up this messy, just most of the time. But, she does understand the scooping and eating.

On her birthday, May 3, I made Maggie a little cake, and we got to actually light a candle. (The party was cold and windy.)
Here, she is trying to blow out the candle...
...and since that didn't work, might as well eat it.
Here we go...

This is the oh-s-cute, but "dangerous" chair. Maggie is really good at climbing into and sitting down, but she is also really good at falling off it when she wants off. I hide it under the couch unless I know I'll be right there.
